I Bought 'Em & I Love 'Em: Melissa Vinyl Wedges

Remember the vinyl T-strap wedges I scoped from the new Royal Oak accessory shop, The Annex? You know, the peep-toe shoes by Melissa I said you could wash your car in? Well, I bought the purple pair and they're fabulous.

At first I was drawn to the design. I mean they looked like a plastic/vinyl mix and I hadn't seen anything like them ever before. Or so I'd thought until I visited the 'Melissa' Australia website and realized I've come across the Melissa x Alexandre Herchcovitch sandals before. Anyway, a week after visiting the store, my mom and I went back. I just had to try them on and my mom tried on a pair of the black Campana Zig Zag flats by Melissa, too. She was drawn to the flex appeal, really, she sat and bent them for a few minutes. Ha!

Aside from being pretty awesome to look at, they're awesome on the feet. They feel like gel cushions - but sexy - like a more sophisticated jelly shoe, if you will. They're made in Sao Paulo, Brazil from MELFLEX plastic, a patented, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, recyclable super flexible plastic of which 99.9% of factory water and waste is recycled and overstock styles are recycled into new styles.

Cool, right? So I snagged the purple pair (The Annex has gunmetal and hunter green, too) and my mom ended up buying the flats. After she tried them on she, like me, didn't want to take them off.

This year Melissa also did a collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. It's quite a unique approach the classic Mary Jane. I love to see this sort of textile being used for shoes styles other than the typical jelly flat. Like the "Joy", for example.

So, I bought 'em and I love 'em. I will do my best to carry them into the cooler weather because, let's face it, to find a really cool shoe that you can wear all day isn't exactly the easiest task. And (bonus!) much to my surprise, my feet didn't get gross and sweaty (ew) even having worn them from 9 a.m. 'til the evening hours. The Annex will be getting more in by Melissa and I'm especially interested to see the velvet styles.
