Fellas, are you sick of wearing those tired looking dress shoes all the time? Ladies, are you looking to add a little kick to your shoe closet?

Here’s a list of Metro Detroit shops whose sole purpose (get it? sole purpose!) is to enable your sneaker addiction, that is, carrying more than just your “typical tennis shoe.” So what are you waiting for? Getcha sneak on!

Pogo Skate Shop, 381 Hamilton Row, Birmingham 248.540.0150

Nike SB-lovers have been known to camp out in front of this spot to grip the latest drops. In addition to Nike Skateboard shoes, Pogo carries BC, Lakai, Vans, Supra, DVS, Adio, Emerica and Etnies.

Footprints, 1200 S. University Street, Ann Arbor 734.994.9401

This has been an Ann Arbor shoe store staple for over twenty years. You’ll find Nike (including select Quickstrike releases), exclusive New Balance Tier 1 styles as well as Vans Vault, limited Adidas and Puma, PF Flyers and Saucony.

Launch, 1202 S. University Ann Arbor 734.82.SKATE

This underground (literally, go down stairs from its sidewalk entrance) skate shop prides itself on being “skater owned and operated” and boasts Nike SB, Vans, Lakai Limited, Emerica, Es', DVS and Etnies.

Puffer Red’s, 113 W. Michigan Ave., Ypsilanti 734.485.7050

This Ypsi gem is stocked from the floor to the ceiling with shoes and recently unveiled an exclusive Adidas Forum 25th Anniversary Sneaker. It’s a handpicked Nike “One Door” retailer meaning Nike built a custom display just for the store to specifically showcase super special Air Force Ones.

Jus’ Shooz by Puffer Red’s, 35002 East Michigan Ave., Wayne 734.722.6630

This hotspot is an extension of Puffer Red’s filled with (surprise!) just shoes. Shooz carries almost all the same releases and is similar in terms of selection, excluding Air Force Ones.

Burn Rubber Sneaker Boutique, 202 W. Fourth Street, Royal Oak 248.543.3000

Under new ownership since February ’07, Burn Rubber has since been making its name among the sneaker community in a big way. The shop’s shelves display the latest in men’s and women’s kicks from JB Classics, Nike (including Quickstrike releases) and New Balance Tier 1 to other exclusives, from Alife, Puma, Adidas and most recently Supra NS.

Refuge Skateboard Shop 24334 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn 313.27.SKATE

Another great indie skate shop home to Nike SB kicks and clothing. Refuge also has a nice array of Adidas, Vans, Lakai, DVS and other skate shoe faves.

Bob’s Classic Kicks, 4717 Woodward, Detroit 313.832.7513

While most of the stock at Bob’s is Nike, shoe heads can also cop Adidas and Medium here.

Revive, 383 Hamilton Row, Birmingham 248.593.9788

One of the newer shops to the block, Revive has a solid stock of some of most exclusive retro and new sneakers scouted by prime street wear sources across the U.S. of A. From Jordans to Dunks, this spot proves itself to be another hot one for sneakerheads.
