I'm just going to come out and say it. It's not every day in Detroit (or its suburban counterparts) that we see a well dressed man, pardon me, make that extremely well dressed man passing by on the sidewalk in a fitted suit, white Mason Martin Margiela shoes, shades and a tie - in ninety degree heat, nonetheless.

So, as you may imagine, when we ran into this dapper fellow at Birmingham's 'Day on the Town' we nearly tripped on our platforms ... with pleasure! And no, it wasn't the glass(es) of wine from lunch ... or the glass while getting a trim at Luigi's Salon. Anyway, let's talk street style, that is why we're here, right? Right.

Name/Alias: Jeff Newsom

Occupation: Creative Director and pusher of smart, eco-conscious nonprofit ashirtbag.org.

Spotted: First time, Old Woodward Ave., Birmingham. Second time (hooray!) on the patio at Carl Sterr Men's Clothier.

What he's wearing: Vintage Ray Bans, suit, tie and shirt by Carl Sterr, cashmere socks, belt by Comme des Garçons and Margiela shoes.

Fashion items he will forever appreciate: "The classics. YSL, Bottega ... and a Cartier Platinum watch with a croc band, it never goes out of style."

Fashion items he will forever despise: "Those tee shirts with all the rock crap all over them!"

When he's not in a suit: "You'll always see me in a tee shirt, my Levi's 501s and some kick ass sneakers from Colette."

Taupe Is Dope

Taupe Is Dope

Hitting the Detroit Urban Craft Fair this weekend was a sensory overload of coolness. Did you see the Kill Taupe booth boasting work from local artist Jason Driscoll? We sure did. Bright colors, creepy cupcakes, goofy animals and angry veggies? That's right up our alley!
